Links

Click here to go to Maple Area Residents Association’s page of links, which duplicates much of what we would want to put here.

Here are some additional links that may be of interest to our group. More will be added on this page as time shuffles on. There are more blogs about New Orleans out there than you can imagine, and more all the time. Many of these links have links of their own. Check it out.

No Broken Windows, a blog that throws a light on blighted property across the city, with pictures and information about the owners. Highly recommended.

Squandered Heritage, a blog dedicated to homes worth preserving that are threatened with demolition, either through neglect or through official action.

Link for Orleans Parish Assessor’s Office website to find owner info, etc. on any house in New Orleans.

Link in City of New Orleans’ Good Neighbor Plan website to determine status of violations, inspections and case history of a property.

Moldy City is an interesting political blog about doings here.

Louisiana Rebuilds website has links to many good resources, including contractor ratings.

Unified New Orleans Plan (UNOP) now has a website of it’s own.

Neighborhoods Partnership Network is a resource for local neighborhood associations.

City of New Orleans Health Dept. The Division of Environmental Health is where to report problems such as piles of trash, vacant and unsecured buildings, and other environmental problems. In some cases they may refer you to Code Enforcement at 658-2596–especially if you are complaining about blighted property.  Also, some of the phone numbers on the Env. Health sire are incorrect or disconnected.  For Rodent Control, for example, you must dial 311.

Can you add the phone # for the City Board of Health to report problems, like my neighbors deconstruction trash attracting mice and rats!!! I know you are familiar with the City’s responsibility vs. the State’s

The State Board of Health would be of interest also, it regulates codes for Restaurants, Grocery Stores, Bakeries, etc.
    Thanks,
    Marilyn
