Native Plant Initiative: Plant sale, Iris Society, landscaping workshop, and more

Native plants require no fertilizer and are more low maintenance than exotics, and are much better for pollinators. The Native Plant Initiative of Greater New Orleans is a good, active group of volunteers. Here’s their newsletter, with info on upcoming events, including the LessLawn/LawnLess educational exhibit at the upcoming Spring Garden Show.

Nix Library Update

Well, it isn’t good news, I’m afraid. Below is the reply to my query. After more than two years, this is discouraging indeed.

“The ADA scope of work performed under CPA’s administration is complete.  NOPL recently noticed water infiltration in the building that will require some roof repair work.  They are working with Purchasing to engage a contractor to perform the work.  CPA defers to those agencies regarding a schedule for the completion of this work and the reopening of the library.”
