A Second Line Bash for Charlie Nash

Greetings Krewe Of O.A.K.stars! This is a message coming to you with lots of love and sweet sadness for the loss of our Oak Street musician and friend at Ace hardware and beyond, Charlie… You may have seen him at any Krewe of O.A.K. parade sliding along with his trombone or in Oak street Cafe playing away. As many of you know, he died in a tragic fire on Oak street recently and now it is time to pick up some pieces and play them back together in a second line in his honor.
Please come out to Ace hardware at 1 pm on July 14th with instruments and drinks in hand to do the delightful dirge dance we do. Donations towards deferment of the crazy costs to second line would also be appreciated. You can contact his friend and organizer of this, Chris, at 504 452-1265 or the bartenders at the Maple Leaf Bar who will contact Chris for you.

Evacuteer Volunteer Training

We’d like inform the CRNA neighborhood of the schedule for our remaining evacuteer training sessions. It takes one training session to become an evacuteer, and we have three sessions remaining this summer. They will be held Monday, July 9th from 5:30p-7p and Saturday, July 14th, when there will be two, one from 10a-noon and one from 1p-3p. All will be held in City Hall on the 9th floor (Dept of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness). Thank you for your continued support of www.evacuteer.org , and we hope to see some of your members at an upcoming training.
