Green Light New Orleans is partnering with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) on a 3-day event which will take place on July 19, July 20, and July 21, 2012. During this time approximately 2,400 youth and adult leaders will participate in service projects with Green Light’s Tip the Block program which includes several partner organizations.
800 of these volunteers will be available for projects in our neighborhood. Examples of projects youth will participate in include: installing free energy efficient lightbulbs, building backyard vegetable gardens, and painting the exterior of homes. We are currently seeking request for funding proposals for additional service projects to be completed by ELCA youth volunteers during our 3-day event. Criteria for projects are as follows:
• Project must be able to be completed for ELCA volunteers over the course of their three-day stay.
• The preferred project area falls within the limits of Green Light’s Tip the Block area (Between Plum and Cohn street, Joliet and Eagle street)
• Ideal projects aim to beautify the community, improve the environment, provide training or sustainable skills, or perform services that meet a demonstrated community need or request.
• Project should be budget conscious. i.e. funding will provide for material costs but funding for strictly operational support will not approved. Per project budget is capped to $1,500.
• Submissions must be able to finalize project details and submit a full list of needed materials with itemized costs by April 19, 2012
If you have a project idea which meets these criteria, we would love to hear about it!. Please respond to Jessica.mp@greenlightneworleans.org with proposals or additional questions.
Sincerely,
Andreas Hoffmann
