SWB: What is the status of T(urbine) 4 and why is there still so much noise?

5/21/21, Melissa asked, and Ghassan replied:

“Good morning Melissa,  T-4 is back on line however we are having a few issues with it and is not considered fully available (or reliable),  hence the need to continue to rely on T-1 until such time we are 100% confident of T4 reliability. Same goes for the EMD’s. We will need to run them every 12 hours for about 30 minutes or so to ensure they are warm and to ensure their availability when we need them. This is a learned and new practice based on recent experience having difficulty starting them cold.

As for the noise mitigation, we are committed to pursue efforts to mitigate the noise as best as possible. We are assessing available resources from the System’s funds to help pay for the implementation. As I committed to CM Giarrusso yesterday we will share timeline as soon as it is firmed up.

Once again we apologize for the adverse impact this is causing you and the neighbors. We will keep you posted as things progress for the better.

Kind Regards,

Ghassan Korban, P.E.

Comment TODAY 5/18 on Council’s Renewable and Clean Energy Portfolio Standard

The City Council Utilities Committee meets tomorrow (Wed 5/19). Don’t miss this opportunity to make your voice heard on the City Council’s Renewable and Clean Portfolio Standard. This standard requires that, by the year 2045, all electricity supplied by Entergy comes from energy that does not add to the climate crisis.  Let the Council know you support the standard without nuclear energy. Ask your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to do the same.

Click here to submit your comments TODAY to the City Council Utility Committee on Agenda #3 Renewable and Clean Portfolio Standard.

914 Dante St: Uptown Messenger Article

Several facts in this article are wrong (Hooper is the owner, not an employee of Riverlake, and no formal subdivision request has yet been made), and several important points made during the interview were left out (ie, losing green space for water retention, etc.). But here it is. Thanks to Betty and Jill for doing interviews.

Please see the following article on the historic property at 914 Dante.

Industrial Noise-Pollution Petition & Survey

Today (5/15) several CRNA board members walked around a petition and a survey. The same will take place tomorrow. The target area is nearby residences, businesses, churches, and people on both sides of Leonidas, near SWB Carrollton plant. The petition states that the signer is concerned about the effects of the SWB industrial noise and pollution. The survey asks if the person is affected, how, and such.

The aims are to (1) get documentation that people ARE affected and ARE concerned (whether they are personally affected or not) and (2) let people know that their voices are being amplified and (3) encourage people to contact us, attend meetings, or just email us their experiences.

It is disturbing how many of the people we spoke with today are affected and yet have not been reached out to about this.
