2nd People’s DA Coalition, 8 July, 6:30 pm

From email: “After decades of racist overcharging and over sentencing by Leon Canizzaro, New Orleanians elected Jason Williams to be their new District Attorney last November. As a candidate, District Attorney Williams committed to a platform that would redefine public safety and enact critical reforms, including limiting the ways prosecutors can use their discretion to force plea deals and longer sentences.

“On July 8th, the New Orleans People’s District Attorney Coalition will host its second conversation with District Attorney Williams to learn about what the District Attorney will be doing to address prosecutorial discretion, criminal procedure, and how the DA’s office will be developing resources for crime survivors.

More than 800 New Orleanians tuned in to our first forum with District Attorney Williams. RSVP today and together we can hold Jason Williams accountable throughout his tenure as District Attorney.

“It is up to the people to ensure that District Attorney Williams stands for the community and frees our people. Prisons and police do not keep us safe and incarceration is destroying generations.

“District Attorney Williams is poised to shift the power of his office, if we hold him accountable. Save your spot at our upcoming Forum with District Attorney Williams on July 8th at 6:30PM.

  1. Where is the Forum with the DA taking place? I do not find location anywhere

    • There are two links there to sign up. I had assumed it’s virtual. Because there is a CRNA meeting at the same time, I’ll not be attending.
